Every parish church has two special particular feast days each year of the highest rank: 1) the day of the Dedication of the Church, and 2) the Patronal Feast of the Church.

Our Parish Dedication Feast is observed on Thanksgiving Day as it was on Thanksgiving the Dedication took place— November 24th, 1910. Our Parish Patronal Feast is the 11th of February, the Feast of the Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Mary Immaculate) at Lourdes. (February 11th, 1858 was the first of the 18 Apparitions which St. Bernadette received.)

Each of these two parish feasts is an occasion to give praise and thanksgiving to God and to ask for continued divine blessings upon the parish. Our Sunday Mass today anticipates the feast of Lourdes by making an External Solemnity of it. Our 10:30 Latin Mass is the Mass of February 11th with the 5th Sunday after Epiphany as a Commemoration.

By means of the enlargement of the Bulletin cove photo the inscriptions on the frieze can be seen: 1) The date of the 1st Apparition at Lourdes, and 2) The Zottoli Brothers, the Boston architectural specialists who did the concrete work. (Thanks to parishioner Martha Phillips who discovered these inscriptions.)
