SCENES FROM OUR PARISH LIFE AT HIGH SUMMER

On Sunday, July 29th, at the 10:30 Latin Mass we welcomed back Fr. Jon Tveit as a guest celebrant. Fr. Tveit is a priest of the Archdiocese of New York and is assigned as parochial vicar to Resurrection Church in Rye, N.Y. (Fr. Tveit became a parishioner at Mary Immaculate of Lourdes during his undergraduate student years at Boston College. He served on the Parish Staff as a Sacristan and Cantor after graduation. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2016.) Here are some of Rod Phillip’s photos of the Sunday Mass.

Rod has also taken some beautiful pictures of the outside of the church during these glorious summer days, one of which is on the front cover. Also, there is an interesting photograph of the full “blood moon” over the parish church and campanile on Friday, July 27th.

About Our Parish

Mary Immaculate of Lourdes is Newton and Needham Massachusetts's oldest Roman Catholic Parish. Founded as Saint Mary's Parish in 1870 it was renamed "Mary Immaculate of Lourdes" when the new Church was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day, 1910. In addition to being a regular territorial parish of the Archdiocese of Boston it is also a "Mission Parish" since 2007 with a special apostolate for the Traditional Latin Mass (1962 Missal).
